Holland America Line is set to provide cruise passengers with unparalleled experiences in 2026 through its newly announced Celestial Cruises. These bespoke voyages are designed to afford guests the incredible opportunity to witness celestial phenomena such as the Northern Lights, total solar eclipses, and the magic of the summer solstice from above the Arctic Circle. Launching bookings on July 31, these cruises underscore Holland America Line's commitment to offering extraordinary travel experiences, coupling the natural wonders of the cosmos with the luxurious comfort and high-quality service hallmark to the brand.
The announcement of the Celestial Cruises comes on the heels of the success of the 2024 eclipse cruises, driving Holland America to curate more such unforgettable journeys. According to Beth Bodensteiner, Holland America Line’s chief commercial officer, the new voyages aim to give guests a front-row seat to some of the most awe-inspiring natural spectacles. This initiative encapsulates a blend of in-depth exploration of enticing destinations across Europe and the premium onboard experience that guests have come to associate with Holland America.
For the total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026, Holland America has strategically positioned three of its ships—Oosterdam, Nieuw Statendam, and Zuiderdam—to offer the best possible views of this rare astronomical event from various prime locations. The Oosterdam will provide views off Spain’s eastern coast, the Nieuw Statendam off Iceland’s western coast, and the Zuiderdam will include the eclipse as part of its Voyage of the Vikings. Each cruise offers lectures from scientific experts, themed activities, and necessary equipment for safely viewing the eclipse, promising a comprehensive and educational celestial experience.
In addition to the solar eclipse voyages, Holland America Line is also offering Northern Lights cruises aboard the Rotterdam and Nieuw Statendam, featuring an overnight stay in Alta, known as 'The City of the Northern Lights.' These voyages will spend five days above the Arctic Circle, offering a unique chance to witness the aurora borealis. Furthermore, guests looking to experience the longest day of the year can embark on a journey aboard the Nieuw Statendam to celebrate the summer solstice in Honningsvåg, Norway. These cruises not only highlight nature’s marvels but also offer in-depth exploration of Norway’s breathtaking landscapes and cultural richness.
To enhance the guest experience, those booking 2026 Celestial Cruises with the Have It All premium package will receive a host of amenities, including shore excursions, specialty dining, beverage packages, and Wi-Fi options, along with complimentary upgrades like prepaid crew appreciation and superior beverage and Wi-Fi packages. Early birds taking advantage of the booking period will also have access to exclusive deals, underscored by Holland America Line's Mariner Society loyalty program, which offers up to $400 onboard credit per stateroom for those booking by the stipulated deadline.
