Windstar Cruises, renowned for its intimate small-ship cruising experience, is set to significantly elevate the luxury cruise market with the introduction of two all-suite motor yachts, Star Seeker and Star Explorer. Scheduled for delivery in December 2025 and December 2026, respectively, these state-of-the-art vessels represent a strategic expansion of Windstar's fleet, underscoring the brand's commitment to providing unparalleled guest experiences amidst the highest standards of luxury and sustainability.
Originally constructed for Mystic Invest's Atlas Ocean Voyages, the ships are undergoing transformations to embody Windstar's signature style and amenities. Star Seeker, a new build from the WestSEA shipyard in Portugal, and Star Explorer, first launched in 2019, will each accommodate 224 guests in 112 suites, featuring full private verandas and infinity windows for an unmatched panoramic experience. The introduction of two new Owner's Suites with wrap-around balconies at the aft ensures guests can enjoy privacy and spectacular views.
Central to the allure of these yachts are their refined dining options and wellness facilities. Guests can anticipate a culinary journey with a variety of upscale and inventive dishes in the main dining room, Amphora, and alfresco dining available at both Amphora and the Star Grill by Steven Raichlen. The commitment to exceptional cuisine continues with rotating items from James Beard Foundation-affiliated guest chefs. Further enhancing the onboard experience is a two-story spa and fitness facility, an intimate whirlpool on the bow, and the iconic Windstar Watersports Platform, offering direct access to ocean play.
Emphasizing sustainability and environmental stewardship, both yachts are equipped with tier III Nox rated Rolls Royce engines and have the capability to connect to shore power, minimizing port emissions. Their ice-strengthened hulls expand Windstar's destination offerings to new enchanting locales without veering into expedition cruising territory. The yachts embody the brand's promise to deliver immersive and responsible travel experiences, allowing guests to explore the world's most captivating destinations with a minimal environmental footprint.
The expansion allows Windstar to increase its capacity by 30%, bringing the fleet total to 2,000 berths and enabling the luxury cruise line to meet the growing demand for its unique blend of yacht-style cruising and genuine exploration. This growth facilitates the return of one of Windstar's Wind Class sail ships to Tahiti in 2027, joining Star Breeze and offering guests more choices in French Polynesian adventures. Windstar Cruises' president, Christopher Prelog, and the leadership team are thrilled about this pivotal growth phase, promising an exciting future for guests and the brand alike.
