Assumption Island Port

Assumption Island (aka Assomption) is a small island in Seychelles' Outer Islands located north of Madagascar. Discovered in 1756, Assumption Island was named after the religious feast day Assumption. It has a rich history, from coconut plantations to guano mining. In 2015, India leased the island and built an army base with communication stations and deep-water port facilities. Cruise ships dock at Saint Thomas Anchorage, where tourists can admire the natural beauty and experience the unique history of the island.
