The Port of Avatiu, located in Avarua, Rarotonga, is the principal port of the Cook Islands. It features a depth of 8m and a wharf length of 260m. With a newly redeveloped harbor opened in April 2013, Avatiu can now handle larger vessels due to a deeper entrance and turning circle. The port plays a vital role, handling around 90% of food imports and 100% of the country's fuel supply.
