Scoresby Sound, known as Kangertittivaq in Greenlandic, is a breathtaking fjord system located on the eastern coast of Greenland. It features a tree-like structure with a main body branching into fjords covering an area of about 38,000 km2. The region boasts the largest and longest fjord system in the world with depths reaching up to 1,450 m in some fjords. Ittoqqortoormiit, the only permanent settlement in the region, has a population of 469 and stands at the northern side of the sound's mouth. Wildlife in the area includes muskox, Arctic fox, stoat, mountain hare, numerous bird species, and aquatic mammals such as seals and walruses. The climate is Arctic, with long cold winters and mild summers. Scoresby Sound is a remote and pristine wilderness that offers rare encounters with nature and majestic icebergs that carve the landscape.
